French regulator Arcep has published its scoreboard for the fixed broadband and superfast broadband market – rollouts and subscriptions – in France at the end of March 2019. The results for this quarter confirm the ongoing increase in FTTH subscription numbers and rollouts.

Norway awards 5G licences
The Norwegian Communications Authority (Nkom) awarded 20-year licences for the spectrum in the 700 MHz and 2.1 GHz bands to three operators: Ice, Telia and Telenor. The auction last only from 3 to 5 June. Its total proceeds amount to NOK 735.057 million.
Switzerland deals with cantons’ moratoria on 5G networks

Czech Telecommunication Office deployed a new network comparison portal
A new portal qos.ctu.cz has been successfully deployed by the Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU), allowing the public to check the quality of Czech mobile networks. The portal combines results of expert measurements, user data gathered within the application Netmetr and theoretical calculations. CTU wants to extend the tool with additional functions and services, including information about the quality of fixed broadband internet.
Switzerland knows the winners of 5G auction
Swiss regulator Bakom has successfully awarded frequencies in the 5G auction after eight working days. All three established mobile operators Swisscom, Salt and Sunrise gained frequencies in the bands 700 MHz, 1400 MHz and 3500 MHz. The total proceeds from the auction were nearly CHF 380 million.
Only two countries in Europe not violating network neutrality principles
There are only two countries in Europe – Finland and Bulgaria, where there are no violations of the network neutrality principles, follows from the Report on network neutrality in Europe, published by the Austrian data protection NGO epicenter.works. The analysis of the European market was carried out with the support of the Chamber of Labour after two and a half years of implementation of the net neutrality legislation.
Germany closes applications for 5G auction
On 26 November 2018, following extensive consultations, the German regulator Bundesnetzagentur opened the qualification procedure for the 5G auction in the 2 GHz and 3.6 GHz (3.4-3.7 GHz) bands. Applications could be submitted until 25 January 2019. The award conditions include obligations for better coverage in both urban and rural areas as well as along transport routes, plus measures to promote competition, such as service provider regulations and national roaming requirements.
