Ratel hosts meeting on QoS measurement

Serbian regulator Ratel hosted a meeting in Belgrade on the measurement of quality of service (QoS). During the meeting, experts from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia presented and discussed the latest projects and activities in this domain. The participants exchanged their experience from the MoQoS (Measurement of Quality of Service) project implemented in 2017-2018.

Norway awards 5G licences

The Norwegian Communications Authority (Nkom) awarded 20-year licences for the spectrum in the 700 MHz and 2.1 GHz bands to three operators: Ice, Telia and Telenor. The auction last only from 3 to 5 June. Its total proceeds amount to NOK 735.057 million.

GSMA warns some spectrum auctions artificially inflate prices

The industry association GSMA, representing interests of mobile operators worldwide, warns that artificially inflating prices in some 5G spectrum auction threatens quality and affordability of mobile services. To help governments and regulators guarantee affordable, high quality mobile connectivity from spectrum awards GSMA has published the Auction Best Practice paper.

Czech Telecommunication Office deployed a new network comparison portal

A new portal qos.ctu.cz has been successfully deployed by the Czech Telecommunication Office (CTU), allowing the public to check the quality of Czech mobile networks. The portal combines results of expert measurements, user data gathered within the application Netmetr and theoretical calculations. CTU wants to extend the tool with additional functions and services, including information about the quality of fixed broadband internet.
