5G auction in Estonia started
The 5G spectrum auction in Estonia knows its first winner. The mobile operator Elisa won the first licence in the 3.5 GHz band, reported developingtelecoms.com. After Elisa pays the licence fee, the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority of Estonia, TTJA, will invite bids for the other two licences.
Bangladesh distributes 2.3 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands
The Bangladeshi regulator BTRC announced on 31 March 2022, the completion of the 5G spectrum auction, reported the national news agency. Frequencies in the 2.3 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands go to four mobile network operators. Total proceeds from the sale of a total of 190 MHz amount to BDT (Bangladeshi Taka) 106.46bn (€1.12bn).
Rethinking zero-rating rules
The body of European regulators, BEREC, reviewed and updated its guidelines for the open internet, with a particular focus on zero-rating tariffs. Stakeholders have until 14 April 2022 to submit their comments.

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) announced the results of the spectrum auction in the 3.5 GHz band. Two winners, MTN Nigeria and Mafab Communications, gained a 100 MHz block each for the 5G networks rollout. The proceeds from the 5G auction amount to $547.2 million.
