Verizon reached 4.2 Gbps speed on its 5G network. The US operator conducted a trial in Texas with Samsung, Motorola and Qualcomm. The companies applied carrier aggregation in the 28 GHz spectrum band. As a result, customers will enjoy unprecedented mobile speeds still in 2020.
Verizon continues to expand its 5G Ultra Wideband network. Therefore it introduces advanced technologies, 5G carrier aggregation using mmWave, for instance.
This way the network will enable creating new use cases for both individual and business customers.
The carrier aggregation technology combines multiple channels of the spectrum. As a result, the efficiency of data transmission significantly increases.
For the test the companies combined eight separate channels, aggregating 800 MHz of 28 GHz band spectrum.
Samsung contributed with its Samsung Network’s 5G NR 28 GHz Access Unit. Verizon has been commercially deploying this smallest integrated mmWave radio in the market.
Further, Motorola enabled the tests with its upcoming flagship device. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform with the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System.
