Vodafone Germany has launched 5G network in the first 20 cities and municipalities, using 60 antennae on 25 base stations. In August, the operator plans to have 5G signal available on 50 base stations. Simultaneously with the launch of 5G network Vodafone markets the country’s first 5G mobile router GigaCube 5G and offers a new GigaCube 5G tariff series, including more data without a price increase.
The GigaCube 5G mobile router, offered in cooperation with Huawei, will enable indoor speed of 500 Mbps, which significantly exceeds the fastest DSL lines.
The GigaCube 5G router will be available with the tariffs GigaCube Mini, GigaCube and GigaCube Max for a one-off price of EUR 349.90 and a monthly fee of EUR 2.99. With GigaCube Flex the customer pays the one-off price of EUR 499.90 and no monthly fee.
The promotional offer with extra data without a price increase will last until the end of October. Customers of the tariff GigaCube Mini will get a monthly allowance of 5 GB; customers of the tariff GigaCube will get 75 GB; and customers of GigaCube Max will get 150 GB data a month, during the whole contract period. In addition, the monthly subscription for the tariff GigaCube Max will be reduced by EUR 10 to EUR 44.99.
The operator’s 5G network is already available e. g. in the following cities and municipalities: Birgland (Bavaria), Lohmar (North Rhine-Westphalia) und Hattstedt (Nordfriesland), as well as the big cities such as Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Dortmund und Munich.
By the end of August, the number of 5G base stations shall be raised to 50 and they shall be available also in Berlin, Bremen, Dresden, Darmstadt, Leipzig, Mühlheim an der Ruhr and Frankfurt.
Vodafone Germany plans to have covered with its 5G network 10 million people by the end of 2020 and 20 million by the end of 2021.
